Can be a great way of creating new business leads although normally you need to send thousands of mail shots to have any really tangible response, the main barrier I find with mail shots is actually accumulating the mailing list in the first place, after all, new businesses basically do not have their own mailing list of thousands of clients, you can buy mailing lists for very reasonable prices online, but it can be very hard to judge the quality of the list before you buy, try a few suppliers and then see which supplier provided data that brought the best return, its not always about finding the cheapest price.
Trade Shows
Can be a bit pricey to attend, especially for newly established sole traders, but if you can find a trade show that is targeted specifically to your niche, and you can afford to exhibit there, then trade shows can be an absolute goldmine when it comes to producing new leads. I have know people fill up their entire schedule for the next six months from one good trade show.
